After Careful Consideration.......
After careful consideration, I have come to the conclusion that religion is bullshit!!!All of it!!!I know that people might find fault with this, but give me one solid , real , indisputable proof that ANY religion is based in fact, and I will be willing to rethink my position!
First of all, we are dealing with a bunch of incredible stories that remind me of fiction!Sure, God created the heavens and the Earth in six days, and rested on the Sabbath!!!Yea, I know that one day is like a kazillion to God, so when he rested for the Sabbath, he rested for like a trillion years. Sure, he created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve!!!Yep, so when archaeologists find remains of "Lucy" , the female Neanderthal, that was probably Eve!!!Don't tell me, Dinosaur bones and fossils of Cro-Magnum man was planted by the Devil!!I got it!!!Furthermore, who was there to document the "beginning"?It sounds as if the story is being narrated in the third person!Yep, God had a personal biographer there to take it all down!
Many will be quick to claim that certain landmarks and locations mentioned in the Bible exists in REAL LIFE!!!WOWZERS!!!!You know , I thought about this very long and carefully before it finally dawned on me that Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz lived in Kansas!!!So, because Dorothy lived in a place in which we can all go to and visit today, Dorothy and the story of the Wizard of Oz MUST be true!!!In that case,King Kong must have been true because I saw him atop the Empire State Building in New York !O.K., Enough monkeying around!!!
I won't get into all the details about what a pile of rooster shit this is, I will spare you the details!!I will however say that religion serves a valuable purpose! It teaches people morals and values that they can use to guide them through life. It's the same as Mother Goose stories, or Dr. Seuss, or even Aesop's fables, they all attempt to teach mankind important lessons in human virtue and behavior. Love, understanding , compassion , fairness, justice, honesty, and peace, are all morals and values that we all need to comprehend and exercise!!If a two year old can learn not to lie from the story of "The Boy Who Cried Wolf", I think he might be better served by Aesop , rather than King James!
Sidenote: I would like to state that I do believe in a higher power!!I don't need to affiliate myself with any religion to understand the concept of energy. So to clarify, Jesus and Mohammad mean nothing to my religious beliefs. My spirituality doesn't need affiliation to be validated!!!!

My friend Rob started his own religion. I won't join because one has to get up to early.
King James VERSION says a lot
As usual, your words are inflammatory, exaggerated for effect, but I agree with your underlying principle. You don't need a formalized religion to validate your spiritual beliefs. Religion is a simplistic way to package up moral values and efficiently distribute them to cattle, err I mean the masses, err I mean the people. This doesn't make religion itself invalid. It just means that thinkers who are often dissatisfied with the over-simplified 'answers' will look beyond the confines of a single religion for the answers they seek. This is not a bad thing. Religion provides the first stepping-stones to spiritual enlightenment. In my opinion, all such paths lead to the same place, and the variety of paths is explained by the variety if humanity itself.

Patches, I suggest you seriously look into Rob's new religion!!!!!You of all should believe in his "dogma"!!! LOL!! LOL !!!LOL!!
I'm still trying to decipher the King Jame's version!!
Kelly, It was not my intention to be "inflammatory". I honestly feel that way. I cannot believe all of these "faith based" crap!!!!The answers to all of the hard questions always "lie" in faith!!!
If there are fossils and artifacts, that support evolution, why is it not considered scientific? One would think that anything that can be supported by physical proof, should have some credibility. Instead , some are trying to block it from being taught or even shown in public theatres!!!
Those same people then want to push their "faith" on everyone else!!!Crap that doesn't even make sense!!!!But that doesn't stop them because in their God , all things are possible, except things that counter their beliefs !! Well, in my God,all things are possible, ALL things!!
Just passing through, cool post.
Pushing their faith is called "witnessing" in some circles.
Oh, and I believe that terrorists are trying to convert living people to dead ones.
Imara, all of these hypocrites want to live their lives however they want to, then dictate to others how they should live their lives!!!!Like Bush, he womanized, was a drunkard ,snorted coke, smoked dope, lied , robbed , stealed , and was a general low life!!!Then he saw how the idiots in the bible belt helped his father get into the white house, then lose the white house without their support!!!!Carl Rove taught him that if you cater to these nut jobs, you too can end up in the white house, so he did!!!
I absolutely hate it when people have sex out of wedlock, have children out of wedlock, drink excessively, do drugs, lie , cheat and steal, then want to tell people how to live their lives !!!!What hypocrites!!!!
Oh, and they practice NONE of the teachings of Christianity!!!As a matter of fact, they do exactly the opposite of what is the basis of Christianity!!!Like I said before, they are religious half day on Sundays!!!
Sure, Imara, we leave them alone, they attack the World Trade Towers, the Pentagon, and try to attack something else, but were foiled when Americans gave their lives so others could live. Over 3000 dead because we left them alone.
And no, I am not talking about Iraqis, but terrorists. Imara, I do not have all the answers, but I know that the terrorists use the Mosques to hide weapons because our soldiers are doing whatever possible to not appear anti-Islam. I think that it is time to tell the Imams, hey, if someone shoots out of your mosque, it becomes a parking lot. Maybe that would change the tactics a little bit.
Two Dogs: The muslims in Iraq are doing a fairly good job of making the mosques into parking lots themselves... The sects keep blowing up the mosques of rival sects. Its pretty sad. I'm not as well-educated on the subject of Iraq as I could be, but I'm a student of history... and I will be very surprised if the West doesn't setup another brutal dictator in Iraq, just to get things under control. Of course, 20 years later, we'll be in the same boat we were in after we set Saddam Hussein up. Its a terrible, vicious cycle--a short-sighted flaw in our foreign policy.
Amen! hee hee hee ;)

Katiemagic....was that a Michael Jackson laugh?
>Of course, 20 years later, we'll be in the same boat we were in after we set Saddam Hussein up. Its a terrible, vicious cycle--a short-sighted flaw in our foreign policy.
Kelly, Unfortunately, I think you might be right!
What a lot of people forget is that the US Government has supported terrorist groups itself, mainly in the Western Hemisphere. We call them 'counter-insurgency' forces, and we poured money and arms and training into militant groups whose only redeeming quality was an opposition to leftist governments.
I do enjoy the irony of the finger-pointing. As a patriot myself, I recognize that it is hard for us to enjoy the moral high-ground when the world knows we are hypocrites.
oops. Above comment belongs on the Wed June 1 post.
Kelly,
When the US conducts acts of terrorism, it is naturally looked at as acts of freedom and democracy by Americans, if they know about it at all!!This is why the argument will never end , because the US will always take the moral high ground on everything it does!!!
Torture and abuse at Gitmo or Abu Gahreb(sp?), well those people are TERRORISTS!!!When the fact of the matter is that the majority of people who are being held by the US government are INNOCENT!!!But , the argument can be made that all Muslims and arabs are terrorists !!!!I've heard it !!
People should always remember that behind all of their bullshit rhetoric, lies the truth!!There is a reason why people attacked the US !!!Terrorists to us, but patriots to others!!!
^ I meant: try and seem as if they are taking the moral high ground!!!!
I haven't heard anyone claiming that all Muslims are terrorists. Is that something that Howard Dean said today? What a nut.
If one would simply check the news, that person would soon realize that there has been no torture of those sweet, little innocents at Gitmo. I'm guessing that the Palestinians would prefer that camp to the one that they have been living in since the 50's.
At Abu Ghraib, a small number of US soldiers stripped the prisoners and made them get in a pyramid, DAMN, the humanity. Nick Berg got his head lopped off. Try to figure out the definition of torture or cruelty.
Nick Berg and Daniel Pearle were spies for Israel. There are plenty of them here in the US.The Mossad runs this country.
Perhaps a simplistic view but I believe that whether a person is good or bad has nothing whatsoever to do with religious belief or lack thereof.
I'm distrustful of organized religion.
Over the centuries, terrible things have been done in the name of god. The zealots are still at it.
^True Indeed!!!!Someone I know just finished reading "Angels and Demons".They cannot stress that everyone should read this book!!!They basically came to the conclusion that organized religion is, and has always been a business!!A business based on fear and faith!!They use fear to get you to follow and support, and they use faith to explain things that can neither be proven nor disproven!!!
>Perhaps a simplistic view but I believe that whether a person is good or bad has nothing whatsoever to do with religious belief or lack thereof.
I am in total agreement!!I know some "religious" types that are real depraved individuals!!Take the Catholic Church pedophilia scandal, these so called "people of God" committed the worst type of betrayal to some of their followers!Plus, there's evidence that the church covered these things up for many years!!
soundboyz, I have researched the Catholic Church thing to death, you should know that. You are railing on something that is such a minscule percentage that it doesn't even merit much attention. Evil, yes, prominent, no.
>soundboyz, I have researched the Catholic Church thing to death, you should know that. You are railing on something that is such a minscule percentage that it doesn't even merit much attention. Evil, yes, prominent, no.
two dogs, I cannot believe you just wrote that this problem doesn't merit much attention!!Wow!!!!I see what you're saying!!!You are factoring the total amount of priests versus the ones who have been implicated in the pedophilia scandal!!!Of course, the percentage would be considered low!!!But to say that because it's a low percentage , it doesn't warrant much attention is being misleading!!
That's like me saying .00000021% of the US population went to the ballgame yesterday!!!Oh yea, the ballpark was sold out!!
I have no idea what your analogy means, but then again I haven't checked FOX news to find out what I am supposed to think on the matter.
soundboyz, maybe the molestation argument should be made about truck drivers. Or lawyers. Or PETA members. Then there would be some type of idea on who to look for when searching for pedophiles. I have proven through FACTS that the priesthood has an infinitely smaller ratio of pedophiles, but you would rather focus on priests which numbers show would never even scratch the surface of the problem.
Sure, I understand that Catholics are just another segment of the population that you discriminate against and are prejudiced toward, but if you wanted to offer a solution to the problem of pedophilia, it seems to me that you would want to address the majority of the criminals rather than focus on priests.
But that is how you roll, just find a group that is different from you and spread the hate.
^LOL!!!LOL!!!You are full of it!!!
You say you believe in a higher power, so what is that higher power?
> You say you believe in a higher power, so what is that higher power?
Jimmy, I don't claim to know the ultimate truth!!Unlike most human beings, I try and humble myself and accept the fact that I don't know everything!I don't presume to know the answers to everything, but I do acknowledge that there is definitely a higher power!!If you want to call it God, or Allah,Yahweh, or Sergio, it doesn't make a difference to me.
